New Dom Ruinart: Pierre Katz in the Drinks Report

The Drinks Report announces the release of the new Dom Ruinart packaging by Pierre Katz (discover the project by clicking here).

 

The aim of this renovation was to bring elegance and a contemporary silhouette to the packaging, in contrast with the historical dimension of the brand. The label evolved towards an oval shape, the capsule was lengthened to accentuate the silhouette of the bottle. The whole range has been redesigned: the various formats of bottles, coffrets, cases and various wrapping elements.

 

The House of Ruinart has given its prestige cuvée, Dom Ruinart Blanc de Blancs, a new look designed by Pierre Katz typographer in Paris. Cream and gold replaces the black labelling to better reflect the Blanc de Blancs style and capture the “light and luminous nature” of the Champagne.

The bottles are entirely packaged by hand in Reims to make sure that the attention to detail and commitment that goes into the contents of the bottle, are also evident on the outside of the bottle.

 

The back labels have also been redesigned to incorporate more information about the Champagne.  By naming the Grands Crus on the back label and the month and year of disgorgement, the House of Ruinart intends to be entirely clear on the provenance and history of its top cuvée.

Each bottle will be wrapped by hand in a silk paper on which will be printed one of the oldest maps of Champagne vineyards – the Carte de Cassini, dated 1757.  The villages where Ruinart selects the grapes blended in the Dom Ruinart will be highlighted on the map.

The lighter and softer labels are more illustrative of the elegant Chardonnay style and support Dom Ruinart’s positioning as the ultimate expression of Blanc de Blancs.”
